Nortons honored for their 'Spirit of Philanthropy'

(November 2014) – John and Doris Norton were honored during the 30th annual Philanthropy Leadership Awards dinner sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Greater Arizona Chapter on Nov. 13 at the Scottsdale Fairmont Princess.

Four years ago the Nortons were named the 2010 Outstanding Philanthropists, and during the 2014 dinner St. Joseph's Foundation wanted to again recognize them for their continued generosity, as well as their 2014 transformative gift of $19 million that is creating the John and Doris Norton Cardiothoracic and Transplantation Institute at Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center.

From providing patients with an inviting healing garden, medical students with scholarships and study space, and physicians with resources to launch a world-class thoracic institute for lung, heart and esophageal care, the Norton’s impact on St. Joseph’s has been unparalleled.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Arizona Chapter is the premiere organization for fundraisers and nonprofit professionals in the Phoenix-Metro region.
