Arizona Republic, 12 News grant funds to help children
St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center has received $20,000 in funding for the Child Abuse Assessment Center from the Season for Sharing, sponsored by the Arizona Republic and 12 News.
The Child Abuse Assessment Center at St. Joseph’s Children’s Health Center (CHC) is a partner in the Childhelp Children’s Center of Arizona. St. Joseph’s is part of a team of law enforcement, prosecution, social service agencies, medical professionals, and mental health clinicians – all working to provide a safe, secure environment for victims of child maltreatment, including physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and drug exposure.
The Child Abuse Assessment Center also partners with city-operated advocacy centers in Glendale, Mesa, Avondale, and Eloy, and provides inpatient evaluations at three Phoenix-area hospitals.
St. Joseph’s Foundation was selected as a recipient of the grant through the Season of Sharing campaign. Season for Sharing is The Arizona Republic and 12 News' annual holiday fundraising campaign. Through a six-week news, editorial, direct mail, and ad campaign, readers and viewers are encouraged to donate to the fund to help human service agencies in Arizona. This is the fourth time St. Joseph’s has received this grant.
The grant program is one way in which The Arizona Republic and 12 News are fulfilling their mission to strengthen the community. The 2008-09 Season of Sharing campaign generated nearly $2.8 million for the community. Nearly $41 million has been distributed through Season for Sharing since 1993.
